Neum is one of the most important cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The country is very close to the Adriatic Sea and the whole population living in the south-west of the country can be said to breathe sea air. But the coast itself occupy the territory of Montenegro and Croatia, and only the small Bosnian city of Neum has access to the sea. On both sides of it is the border, and with the third sea coast.
Due to its seaside position, Neum differs from other Bosnian cities in its warm and mild climate. The average temperature in July is 26 ° C, in January - + 9 ° C. Precipitation falls mainly in winter, so there is nothing to beware of during the summer. Neum is a resort town that attracts tourists with beaches and warm sea. The length of the coastline is about 25 kilometers. In addition, the city belongs to the elongated mountainous Klek Peninsula, on which it is also possible to have a rest. Its outdoor side goes into the open sea, so the resort offers a holiday for all tastes: family and active with water attractions.
The territory of Neum in the ancient and medieval period did not pass from one power to another once and it was the result of the most important historical events. Thanks to that, Neum became a unique city, which reflected Turkish, Serbian and Croatian national features. The existing borders were exhibited in 1992.
The economy of Neuma is based solely on tourism. By the way, there are two directions of tourism, where the community draws money resources - it is the coastal hotels and transit tourists who travel around Croatia and Montenegro. They stop Neume no longer than a couple of days, while managing to skimp in local stores and visit restaurants. Far from it, tourists do not always visit Neum because of curiosity, mostly it is dictated by convenience, as the "infernal corridor" allows without any problems to get to Croatia and carry luggage, including goods, as well as vehicles.
After the end of the Bosnian war, the country began to actively develop its culture. So, since 1995 the musical festival "Etnofest Neum" has been held annually in Neum. It was initiated by Croatian leaders and is the largest beyond the territory of Croatia. Thus, it becomes possible to unite the musicians of their Croatia and Bosnia.
How to get there?
In order to see Neum on the map, it is necessary to enlarge the southern part of Bosnia and only then will there be a small town of almost square shape squeezed between neighboring countries. Neum is the only sea resort in Bosnia and an important tourist destination, so the local authorities did a lot to make it easy for tourists to reach it. To him go buses from all major cities of Bosnia. Also there is laid the railway. Therefore, being anywhere in the country, you can easily buy a bus or train ticket, which will bring you to the warm Adriatic Sea.
